Chords in the Key of C Major

All of the exercises in Practical Chord Progressions treat C major as the home key.  This is to keep things simple and consistent throughout the site.  Feel free to try them out in other keys if you’re looking for more variety.  Since I normally stick to the names for scale degrees (I, V, IV, etc.), it’s easy to switch to a different key by consulting this chart.

I – C major

ii – D minor

iii – E minor

IV – F major

V – G major

vi – A minor
